Code of Conducts
Code of Conduct for Players:
-
All players will conduct themselves in an
orderly manner and will not discredit or
dishonour India Field Hockey Club in any way.
-
All players will consider themselves to be
ambassadors for the India Field Hockey Club
specifically and sport of field hockey in
general, as well as our community, province of
BC and Canada.
-
As member of India Field Hockey Club you will
not partake in any illegal activities, eg:
-
All players will treat teammates, coaches,
opponents, officials, parents and other
spectators with respect and courtesy.
-
All Players will accept, with dignity, the
decisions of umpires.
-
All players will play within the rules and the
spirit of the rules of the game at all times.
-
All players will refrain from use of physical
force outside the rules of the game.
Code of Conduct for Parents:
-
All parents will respect that their child plays
the sport for his/her own enjoyment, not for
theirs.
-
All parents will teach their child that doing
one’s best is as important as winning.
All parents will never yell at or ridicule their
child for making a mistake or losing a
competition.
-
All parents will treat all players, coaches,
opponents, officials, and other spectators with
respect and courtesy.
-
All parents will respect and accept the
decisions of umpires.
-
All parents will respect the rules and
regulations of the game and the facility.
-
All parents will cheer in a positive manner for
ALL competitors.
-
All parents to deal with any coaching/parent
concerns in a private meeting agreed to by
parent(s) and coach(es) away from a game or
practice setting. This meeting may be attended
by the team manager or member of Club
Executives.
Code of Conduct for Coaches:
-
All coaches will try to obtain proper training
and continue to upgrade their coaching skills.
-
All coaches will treat all players fairly and
with respect.
-
All coaches will encourage team members to treat
all players, opponents, officials, coaches,
parents and spectators with respect.
-
All coaches will treat opponents and officials
with due respect, both in victory and defeat.
-
All coaches will treat Junior Coaches with
respect and make them feel a part of the team.
Ensure that players and parents also show
respect to the junior volunteers.
-
All coaches will refrain from use of profanity,
insults, harassment* or other offensive language
when dealing with players, officials, other
coaches or spectators.
-
All coaches will ensure that all players receive
equal instruction, support and playing time.
-
All coaches will encourage players to uphold the
rules of the game and spirit of such rules in a
sportsmanlike manner.
-
All coaches will create an atmosphere which
fosters enjoyment of sport, sportsmanship,
teamwork and fun.
-
All coaches will ensure that equipment is safe
and that all players wear shin pads, appropriate
footwear and mouth guards at all practices and
games.
-
All coaches will ensure that the goalie
equipment is safe and is worn properly.
-
All coaches will consider the player’s future
health and well-being as foremost when making
decisions regarding an injured players ability
to continue playing or training.
-
All coaches will deal with any parent/coaching
concerns in a private meeting agreed to by
parent(s) and coach(es) away from a game or
practice setting. This meeting may be attended
by the team manager or member of Club
Executives.

7.3 Harassment: Behavior including comments,
conduct or gestures which is insulting,
intimidating, humiliating, hurtful, malicious,
degrading, or otherwise offensive to an individual
or group of individuals or which creates an
uncomfortable environment, or which might reasonably
be expected to cause embarrassment, insecurity,
discomfort, offense, or humiliation to another
person or group, including, but not limited to:

written or verbal abuse or threats.

physical assault.
-
unwelcome remarks, jokes, innuendoes, or
taunting about a person’s body, sexual
orientation, attire, age, marital status, ethnic
or racial origin, religion, etc.

displaying of sexually explicit, racist or other
offensive or derogatory material, sexual,
racial, ethnic or religious graffiti.
-
practical jokes which cause awkwardness or
embarrassment, endangering a person’s safety or
negatively affecting performance.
-
hazing or initiation rites.
-
leering or other suggestive or obscene gestures.
-
intimidation.
-
condescension, paternalism, or patronizing
behavior which undermines self-respect or
adversely affects performance or working
conditions.
-
conduct, comments, gestures or contact of a
sexual nature that is likely to cause offense or
humiliation or that might, on reasonable
grounds, be perceived as placing a condition of
a sexual nature on employment or any opportunity
for selection, training or advancement.
-
false accusations of harassment motivated by
malice or mischief, and meant to cause other
harm, is considered harassment.

section 3.10.
